| This very unusual and beautiful item by Herbert Martin Paufler (deceased January 10, 1997), stands 9" high x 6 1/8" wide at base x 4 1/8" deep at base, made of plex and wood. The function is of the hand at the clasp of the door is raised up and the door opens with an eerie sound of the spring ratchet and there for all to see is an image of Tutankhamun with eyes a glow. The performer has the option of the eyes glowing in one of three different colors which selection is made by moving a leveler at the back of unit. The battery which illuminates the eyes (two bulbs seen in picture) was an early block style battery which has been changed over to a rechargeable cylinder battery and includes charger which is for the two batteries included. At the bottom right of the open electronic compartment will be seen vertical strips which activate and complete the circuit allowing the eyes to glow. This has been closed for many years and the strips will need to be adjusted to cause the eyes to glow. This does work once an adjustment it made as there is a plunger that the strips will push forward against tension once the door is opened. Very well made and quite beautiful. Sold in as is condition. | |
