What you have is the original Jewel Chest of Ching See made by Loyd and a later remake by O'Dowd. This is a restoration project and includes the original Loyd model that is hallmarked (Loyd Made) and the issue is a spring roller curtain that is absent the wood strip at the bottom which engages in a spring loaded release mechanism. The original block is present and also carries the Loyd Made stamp. The O'Dowd needs to have a block finished for the cabinet and a solid block of poplar wood is cut and ready for painting and drilling. Both cabinets are absent the plain brass rod that inserts through the side walls thus locking in the block. By having both units you will be able to see all the workings. Auctioned as is condition. | |
