Five wood tablets each having a different Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbol are shown and all have a slot at the opposite end of the symbol. The spectator is given a free choice of one of the tablets and all tablets are stacked together and dropped into a wood cover and a strip of wood is then passed through this securing all of the tablets.
The cover with tablets is turned over with the tablets held fast by the strip and at the magician's command one of the tablets penetrates and falls away from the wooden strip and out from the cover. This may be done over the spectator's outstretched hand and they will be amazed to find it is the one freely selected a moment ago.
