| A beautiful set of the Sand and Sugar Canisters in plated brass. The small canister measures 7 1/2 inches high with a diameter of 3 1/8 inches and the large canister measures 9 1/8 inches high with a diameter of 5 1/8 inches. The large canister is shown empty and the small canister is used to pour its contents into the large canister and surprising to the audience it fills the large canister! The magician is able to cause the contents of the large canister to vanish and once again uses the small canister to fill it to overflowing ultimately causing the contents of the large canister to vanish once more. Made popular circa 1940 with theme and story lines revolving around war time rationing. Harry Blackstone Sr. in the United States made great use of this effect. Jack LeDair and the credited inventor of the effect Louis Histed showed this with popularity in Europe. Fitted plush covers have kept this in immaculate condition and it is unlikely you will ever have a chance at a set this nice again. | |
